CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH STUDENTS’ WHATSAPP GROUP AT UNIVERSITAS PGRI MADIUN

This research aims to describe character education through students’ WhatsApp (WA) group of English Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,Universitas PGRI Madiun who take general course, Bahasa Indonesia. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through documentation in the forms of student’s responses in WA group and observation to student’s attitude during the learning process of general course, Bahasa Indonesia. Result of the research reveals that character education developed includes: (1) religious values, (2) the value of love to the homeland, (3) the value of independent, (4) the value of discipline, (5) the value of work hard, (6) the value of social care, and (7) the value of responsibility. The researchers conclude that the lecturer always instills the character values in the WA group as it has been mapped in each lecturing activity. Referring to the value of the character of the nation, students can appreciate and apply these character values in everyday life. Character education can be delivered to the student through the WA group and attitude observation during learning process
