REFLECTION: THE URGENT OF MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION IN STRENGTHENING THE EXISTENCE OF NATIONAL IDENTITY

ABSTRACT
The Indonesian nation as a large collective entity of the population on the basis of straps, harmonious with attention to interdependence fosters the appeal of cooperation. In developing culture, tradition, ethnicity must be developed integrally because the flow of globalization has an impact on the state that lies between the current of liberalism and socialism as the embodiment of the neo imperialist form. Indonesian identity as a characteristic of a country with a transcendent equation that is not based on minority groups. Therefore, Indonesian must have internal and external resilience authorities to maintain its integrity with the refresher and affirmation of the state’s foundations. The strengthening of multicultural education as a step to dismiss and interrupt the global currents is a necessity that is not only discourse but also as an effort to maintain the noble tradition in the frame of national identity. Regulatory formulations should promote multiculturalism and should not muzzle diversity and not sectarian, primordial or ethnocentric.
