THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TEXT-T O-SPEECH MEDIA SOFTWARE IN TEACHING LISTENING FOR EIGHTH GRADERS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe the implementation of Text-to-Speech Media Software (Balabolka) in Teaching Listening for Eighth Graders of SMP Satu Atap Negeri 4 Pangururan, Samosir, North Sumatera. The participants of this study are an English teacher and the students of VIII-A Class. 32 students are chosen as participants of this study. The type of this study is a basic qualitative research. To collect the data, the researcher uses observation, interviews and documents. This study is focused to answer two questions: (1) How does the teacher use text-to-speech media software (Balabolka) to create listening materials in the classroom. (2) How does the teacher teach listening using materials developed from text-to-speech media software (Balabolka) in the classroom. The results of this study show that the implementation of Text-to-Speech Media has been implemented well and had changed the learning atmosphere to be more interesting in learning listening. The students learn many things such as grammar, vocabulary and pronounciation. In conclusion, text-to-speech media software (Balabolka) can be used as an alternative media in teaching listening.
