PROJECT BASED LEARNING IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT FOR SEVENTH GRADERS

ABSTRACT
Project based learning is a learning method that develops attitude, knowledge, and skills in which students explore real world problems and challenges while working in small collaborative groups. It aims to investigate the application of project based learning in writing descriptive text, students’ descriptive texts through project based learning. This is a qualitative research. The subjects are an English teacher and the seventh graders. The obtained data is through observation, documentation of students’ project. It is analyzed through data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusion. The project based learning supports the instructional process in writing descriptive text and effective in improving students’ writing abilities. Then, it empowers students’ creativity in developing the booklet as the final product. There are some significant improvements in five aspects of writing. It also makes the bond between teacher and students closer as teacher monitor and supervisor throughout the project work.
