OPTIMIZATION OF LITERACY LEVELS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH WRITING SIMPLE REVIEW OF CHILDREN STORY

ABSTRACT

Based on the main design of the school literacy movement literacy activities have been synonymous with the activity of reading and writing. Literation connects knowledge, language, and culture. Literacy also means the ability to identify and communicate information to overcome many problems. School Literacy Movement includes the ability to access various activities of reading, viewing, listening, writing and speaking. GLS is done with a 15 minute reading activity. To optimize students’ literacy capability, there is a need for follow-up in the form of assessment so that the impact of GLS existence can be developed continuously. The assessment developed is that students write simple reviews of children’s stories that have been read. This simple review is made in the form of animated interesting and in accordance with the creation of students. Some forms that are made are the head of caterpillar and body, locomotives and train cars, balloon reviews, geometry reviews, and tree reviews. Through writing this review students can write down the identity of the child’s story read that day, the child’s story content, the impression of the child’s story, the advantages of the child’s story, and the lack of children’s story being read.
