THE IMPORTANCE OF HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL’S STUDENTS

Abstract

The study describes the result of preliminary study towards the the importance of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) for senior high school’s students. The study was conducted to investigate the knowledge of senior high schools’ teachers about HOTS. The information from the study is important because based on Kurikulum 13 (K13), HOTS are required to be possessed by senior high school’s students. The study implemented qualitative approach by maximizing the data from questionnaire and interview. The participant of the study were senior high school English teachers in Bandung. The result shows that most of the teachers know about HOTS and its importances for the students. However, they still do not know the best way to improve students HOTS in the classroom. Hopefully the result of the study could be beneficial for the teachers and researcher who interests on HOTS and its implementation in the classroom.
