COHESION, COHERENCE, AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT IN TIERED BOOKS OF YAYASAN LITERASI ANAK INDONESIA (YLAI)

ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe (1) cohesion in YLAI book, (2) coherence in YLAI book, and (3) language development in YLAI book. This research is qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The instrument of this research is the researcher who role in providing data, collecting data, setting focus of research, analyzing data, interpreting data, and conclusion of research result. Technique used in completion of this research data by reading technique record with method of agih technique of change. The results show sentences First sentences in the YLAI book are intertwined with the use of grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion that YLAI’s book is easy to understand. The coherence used in YLAI books uses the repetition of key words, the use of pronouns, transition signals, and logic sequencing. The three language developments in the YLAI book are incompatible with the levels that should be given to improving reading ability
