IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY CHARACTER EDUCATION IN BUILDING NATIONAL CIVILIZATION

ABSTRACT Character education can be said as moral education and a system of planting the values of the character to the citizens of the school that includes aspects of knowledge (cognitive), feelings (feeling), and action (action). In order for the implementation to succeed properly, sustainable cooperation and harmony of all parties, including government, society, family and school environment are required. According to Hornby and Parnwel, 1972 (Furqon, 2010: 14), literally means character “mental or moral qualities, mental strength, in the Indonesian dictionary, Character is the psychological, morals or kind character that distinguishes one from another, character. The formation of character is an inseparable from life, therefore it takes care attitude from various parties, both government, society, family and school. On the other hand, the attitude found in the present tendency to move from indifference to very protective, from gentle, soft, polite to hard attitude, it is less favorable for the development of soul and behavior of future generations. To anticipate and solve the problems of civilization that arise, strategy is required in the implementation of character education that is adequate and precise is the character configuration based on the cultural norm values of the process: mind, heart, sports, and taste building. In determining the strategy and implementation of character education, first determine the expected goals based on education level from lower level to higher education level
