IMPLEMENTATION OF LIVING VALUE TO BUILD CHARACTER STUDENTS IN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

ABSTRACT Character building of students is implemented with the aim to produce a young generation who have norm and good character. Character building is certainly necessary nowadays considering the many cases of moral degradation of students both in big cities and in small town. To avoid this, the Vocational High School take concrete steps by implementing character building through the application of the living values of Banjar people. Therefore, the problem that will be explained in this research is how the character development through the implementation of life orientation value of Banjar community which is implemented in vocational school. The purpose of this study is to describe character building that was held in Vocational High School. The research uses qualitative descriptive method with data collection technique using observation, interview, and literacy study by collecting various sources relevant to the discussion namely the character building of vocational students through living value. Based on the result of research indicate that character building in vocation high school is done through various habituation program which aim to form the character of both students, various extracurricular activities aimed at fostering student talent, emotional approach done by teacher to students, and insertion of character value in material the lesson material, as well as the school management carried out by the Principal.
