SELF-IMAGE REPRESENTATIONS OF INDONESIAN CHILDREN ON LITERARY TEXT AND ITS IMPLICATIONS TO CHARACTER EDUCATION

Abstract

This article aimed to describe Indonesian children self-image in children literary text (children’s literature). The aim achieved by investigating children stories written by Indonesian elementary students inscribed on Naskah Terbaik LMCA (Best Scrip of LMCA). This research used content analysis method with continuous reading and collecting data through categorical event, tabulation and inference. We conclude that (1) body image representation of Indonesian children on children literary text; (2) positive self-image representation of Indonesian children on children literary text; (3) negative self-image representation of Indonesian children on children literary text. These information implied its importance to govern state-policy and education character orientation suitable to children self-image
