IMPROVING SOCIAL STUDIES LEARNING MOTIVATION, INTEREST, AND OUTCOMES THROUGH THINK-TALK-WRITE METHOD

ABSTRACT

This study aims to identify the improvement of students’ Social Studies learning motivation, interest, outcomes through Think-TalkWrite (TTW) learning method. This was a classroom action research. Subject involved 32 students at the grade VIII A of SMP (State Junior High School) 1 Pleret in 2016/2017 school year. Data on learning motivation and interest, and Social Studies learning outcomes were collected by using questionnaires and test, respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive-qualitative technique. Result indicated that TTWlearning method is able to improve: 1) learning motivation; at pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II, there were 8 (25%), 17(53.12%) and 26(81.25%) students, respectively, belonged to high criteria; 2) learning interest;at precycle, cycle I and cycle II, there were 10(31.25%), 14(43.75%) and 29(90.625%) students,respectively,belonged to high,high, very high criteria; 3) learning outcomes, at pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II, there were 18 (56.25%) achieving learning mastery (at KKM=75), 22(68.75%),and 31(96.875%) students, respectively, achieving learning mastery.
