WAYANG SUKET AND INTRODUCTION OF CULTURAL LITERATURE IN CENTRAL JAVA

ABSTRACT
Culture is the result of creativity and human initiative that we still have and we should keep. Puppet is the result of the culture of the people of Central Java in particular. One of wayang culture that is almost unknown to society is the wayang suket. Mbah Gepuk the master of Wayang Suket, utilizing the grass as the main material of making the puppet. Wayang suket is the original craft of Purbalingga which slowly disappears and began to be lifted back in 2011. Wayang suket is made from suket according to the local language, which in Indonesian means grass. The grass used is grass mattress. It only grows once a year in Sura in the Javanese calendar and only grows in Purbalingga, Central Java. Through an interview with Badriyanto (granddaughter of show wayang suket) stated that through the deepening of wayang suket can introduce cultural literature contained in wayang suket. Because simple forms and figures enable this wayang suket can be introduced to the community from an early age to preserve Indonesian culture. Through wayang suket can also teach some folklore (traditional literature) to the children.
